There are some people you meet along the way in life that you’re just glad you got to know. I am very glad I crossed paths with La. Her contribution to the Lao community has been an inspiration for me and many other Laotians around the world. I first met La a couple years ago when she invited me to photograph and showcase Laotian cuisine to fundraise for the Jai Lao foundation. The photos were turned into calendars, which proceeds helped contribute to noble causes like build schools in Laos and a college scholarship for Laotian Americans. I’m honored to be friends with this woman who is so generous and caring. I went to La’s home in San Ramon to photograph her beautiful family.
