San Francisco Weddings | California Academy of Sciences
A city known for its unique melting pot of unusual people, San Francisco offers many wedding venues that are not typical or traditional. San Francisco weddings can be special while being either elegant or quirky. With striking and historic architecture, there are numerous ceremony sites that can house both the wedding and reception in style. The natural setting is also gorgeous. With bay views and mature lush gardens, outdoor weddings are also popular. In addition, many mansions have wedding packages for those who want an estate wedding feel. Of course, churches and hotels abound for the traditional wedding aesthetic. However, if you want to do something a little different, you might want to consider a different venue. Museums are becoming increasingly popular because of their architectural and romantic appeal. They also typically have large open spaces that are not being used in the evening, so they can be reserved for evening weddings and receptions. One amazingly beautiful venue in San Francisco is the Asian Art Museum with architecture in the classic Beaux Arts style; this site is elegant and distinctive. There are spaces for ceremonies and receptions. The museum has over two thousand works of art that are collected from six thousand years of Asian history. The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art gives an ultra-chic modern facility option for those who want a more contemporary wedding look. San Francisco weddings at the SFMOMA have four spaces to choose from, each of them having a different feel but maintaining a modern aesthetic. The Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Atrium is a large space (6,500 sq. ft.) suitable for banquet type receptions accommodating up to while the Schwab Room is a warmer, more intimate room (3,400 sq. ft.). Both rooms can be used for multiple purposes. Also on site are a café space and a theater. All four areas are available for rent for special occasions and gatherings. Another idea is to host your wedding on the San Francisco Bay in a cruiser or yacht. There are several that are specifically designed for wedding set-ups. Sunset cruises are very popular as the reflection of the sun on the water makes for gorgeous photographs. Some marinas also have ceremony and reception sites if you want a wedding on the water but don’t quite have the sea legs for a wedding cruise. These are just a few of the many whimsical, historical, elegant, and romantic wedding venues available in the Bay Area.Location: California Academy of Sciences San Francisco.
